Hello and welcome to The Curious Marketer,
If you haven’t already please pop in and introduce yourself here. As I build this small community of female founders, solopreneurs and entrepreneurs. My hope is to create a space where we can learn, grow and share some of the challenges of going it alone.
I’ve recently seen a lot of posts and emails telling me there’s only 5 months left to achieve my goals. The urgency, time is slipping away, if you don’t act now your year will be a failure. But what if I’ve already achieved them, what if my version of success has changed. It was never about 6 figure months (who has these anyway?) but about the concept of enough.
It’s been one whole year this month since I launched The Curious Marketer. Is it even harder than I thought it would be? Yes! Have I enjoyed every second of the journey? Yes! Have I had to side hustle my way through this year? You bet ya!
A few weeks ago I wrote about how my version of success has changed over the years and I realised what has made the journey to this point easier has been understanding what success means to me, and not solely aligning it to the outcomes of my business.
As a marketer I know it takes a while to build a brand and there are always factors out of our control. The ever changing economic climate, whether or not a prospective client chooses to buy from us, but what we can control is how we adapt and respond to those challenges.
And I’ve loved helping small businesses understand and navigate their own challenges. A drinks brand understand how to grow their business by growing the category, a finance service provider understand how their audience are feeling and making purchase decisions in the current climate and I’ve written comms strategy for a subscription based business to help them understand how to connect with their customers.
Because that’s why I do this, to help small businesses to grow and help small business owners to do what they love and that’s enough for me.

Absolutely agree! Part of the reason for going solo - and supporting people to figure out their own version of success - is that working in an almost full time job was no longer my version of success.
